Cambridge Audio phono preamps

Cambridge CP1

The Cambridge Audio CP1 is a Moving Magnet only phono preamp and newer than the Azur 551p. Again, load and capacitance are fixed, but has a balance control for fine correction of cartridge imbalance. Of course if you have set up your cartridge correctly in the first place, this should not be an issue.

551p-product-header

The Cambridge Audio Azur 551P phono preamp is a Moving Magnet only preamp. (For Moving Coil cartridges you need the 651P). The 551P is not adjustable, it is fixed load and capacitance, but what do you expect at a price point that barely touches three digits?
NOTE: Many retailers show this item as discontinued, but as you can see by the Cambridge website linked here it does not show it as a discontinued item.

The Cambridge Audio Azur 651P is a Moving magnet and moving coil phono preamplifier. It too does not offer load and capacitance adjustments save switching between MM and MC gain. There is also a subsonic filter that supposedly removes the common problem of unwanted low-frequencies that are inaudible but can damage subwoofers according to the manufacture. I personally have never seen this problem and most folks don’t play their music loud enough to have that become an issue. Good subwoofers are designed to handle such frequencies anyway.
